QuickBooks won't open after entering the password, how to fix it?

However, before moving further to the Password reset process, it is necessary that you determine the type of password you need to reset such as in this case, you can change/reset either your admin password or a user password.

  • Need to change Admin Password: User needs to change the admin password if they don’t have to enter a username and just only enter a password to log in. Or, in case If, the user name is ‘Admin’ only.

  • Need to change User Password: In this case, you need to change the user password if you’re not an admin user.

So, in case if you're trying to change the (Admin password), follow these steps:

  • Firstly, open your QuickBooks Desktop, and on the sign-in/ login page window, simply click on the ‘I forgot my password’ option.

  • Then, on the next window, a form will appear and you have to fill in the correct information that’s required to fill on the form.

  • After that, click on the ‘OK’ button and if the information you have entered, is correct, you’ll receive a password reset code on your registered email address.

  • Now, use that code and enter back in QuickBooks Desktop. That’s it! QuickBooks will then guide you or navigate you to a page where you can easily able to create a password for your QuickBooks account.

  • However, if you still get ‘Can’t open QuickBooks’ error and further need help for resetting the password for your QuickBooks account, what you can try is the ‘Automated Password Reset Tool.’

And, in a case to change the (User password), follow these given steps:

  • For this, you need to sign in to your QuickBooks account as the admin user. Also, in case you are not able to do this, you can contact the one at your company who has admin access.

  • Now, after login to QuickBooks, go to ‘company’ in order to select the ‘Set up Users and Passwords.’

  • Then you have o further select the ‘Set up, Users.’

  • After that, if required or prompted, enter the admin password once again.

  • Now, under the ‘User List’ simply select the user who needs to change a password.

  • And, then select the ‘Edit User’ option and enter a new and more secure password.’

  • Then, to close the process, select ‘Next’ and ‘Finish.’

  • After that, select ‘Close or Logoff the Company option’ in order to sign-in with your particular user name and newly created password.
